Or is it past the point of no return?

Last week, Xbox President Sarah Bond responded to inquiries regarding the Elite Series 3 controller and if we can anticipate another version of the gadget – to which she hinted that “further details should emerge in the future”. It wasn’t a categorical reply, but it certainly suggested that we might see another Xbox Elite controller at some future date – and we are curious if that’s an item you’d consider purchasing in 2025.
We are now five years into the Xbox Series X|S era, and we must confess that we would have preferred to see an Elite 3 sooner in the console’s timeline. In fact, more than three years ago now — amidst speculations about the accessory at that time — we outlined some of the significant aspects we were eager to see from such a gadget. Unfortunately, we are now in the closing phase of the generation, and we still have yet to see the Elite 3 announced.
The speculations haven’t truly ceased over the years for this device either. Even earlier in 2025, we observed Windows Central’s Jez Corden discussing the existence of the device; stating that it “will refresh and enhance the offering significantly over the current version”. We are now nearly half a year past that report and we still have not witnessed an Elite Series 3 disclosure from Microsoft.
Of course, this year introduces another Xbox product aimed at the premium gaming market with the ROG Xbox Ally, so perhaps Microsoft prefers not to launch an Elite 3 alongside it? We will have to observe the developments after the Ally reaches stores, which is just around the corner on October 16th.
