If you have ever pondered what the Far Lands appear like in Minecraft, YouTuber KurtJMac can finally provide you with an answer. Just shy of a decade and a half after initiating the expedition, he has now arrived at the peculiar area, and it’s genuinely a delightful sight.

To add some background, in March 2011, KurtJMac launched Far Lands or Bust, a solo endeavor to discover the namesake glitched area in the distant edges of Minecraft. He accomplished this without any modifications, merely traveling in a direction that resembled a straight line for as long as it required.

Fast forward to October 2025, and after hundreds of episodes along with over $500,000 accumulated for charity, he did it. He arrived at the Far Lands, reveling in their magical beauty as a 14-and-a-half-year journey reached its conclusion.

The moment materialized during Day 69 (nice) of the 2025 sub-a-thon, an occasion where Kurt streamed daily to support the UNRWA. It was anticipated he would discover his destination during one of these episodes, given his coordinates and path, yet when, specifically, was the mystery.

Then, at 3:43:30 into the livestream, he accomplished it. While navigating around an island in the midst of a vast sea, the recognizable floating land formations emerged in the distance. Kurt rejoiced upon seeing the legendary barrier, as balloons floated around him to commemorate the significant event.

Observe, the Far Lands represent a glitch from earlier iterations of Minecraft where the land RNG ultimately spirals out of control, leading to massive islands in the sky. It was long since rectified, but besides quests like Kurt’s, the continent survives in the lore found in Minecraft: Story Mode and similar titles.

Not only did Kurt have to cover an extensive distance, but he also had to traverse vast areas of unpredictability as well, since his version of Minecraft was not particularly optimized. Regardless, he continued to push forward, nearly reaching 15 years on the journey, alongside his furry companion, Wolfie.
