PM Studios has announced that the physical edition of Yooka-Replaylee is set to launch on 18th December.
A ‘genuine’ physical edition for the title on Switch 2 was announced alongside the digital release (which is much nearer – next week, actually, on 9th October), so we can now remove those placeholders knowing that the Switch 2 cartridge will be available just in time for Christmas.
The physical release across all platforms includes some bonus items: a map and a few stickers. Here’s how the promotional text describes it:
This physical edition for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 contains the base game (with a physical cartridge for Nintendo Switch 2), a collectible map poster, and an exclusive character sticker pack. All platform versions will retail at $49.99 USD (SRP).
This remake is characterized as the “ultimate reconstructed and enhanced edition”, which not only provides the 2017 Kickstarter triumph with a significant upgrade for contemporary platforms, but also introduces a multitude of new pagies, fresh minigames, remixed realms, and an orchestral soundtrack featuring vibrant new arrangements of Grant Kirkhope, David Wise, and Steve Burke’s compositions.
The Playtonic team recently confirmed that the Switch 2 version will operate at 30fps, although they’ve mentioned that they’re “looking into the potential of introducing a performance mode to follow some time after launch”.
