Rock Band 4, the iconic musical rhythm game by Harmonix, is on the verge of becoming inaccessible.

On the developer’s Discord and the game’s subreddit, the team reassured fans that the title will be removed from digital marketplaces, including PS Store, on 5th October 2025. This is a result of music licenses for the game’s primary soundtrack lapsing.

“Greetings everyone, on Sunday, October 5, 2025, Rock Band 4 celebrates 10 years. What an experience it has been,” states community manager Kyle Winn. “With this significant milestone comes one major change – the initial licenses for the essential soundtrack are expiring. Consequently, Rock Band 4 will be taken down from the PlayStation and Xbox digital shops.”

Winn clarifies that if you already possess the game, you will still have the ability to download and play it as usual. “The same holds true for Downloadable Content (DLC) – songs will be removed as they reach the 10-year mark, but anything you’ve bought will remain in your collection,” he adds.

Thus, the base game will be delisted, and all additional DLC tracks will also be taken down once they hit the 10-year point. However, anything you currently own (or acquire before the 10-year deadline) is secure and won’t be eliminated.

It appears that online multiplayer will continue to function.

Rock Band 4 debuted for PS4 on 6th October 2015 and has been consistently supported with a remarkably vast amount of DLC since then. New songs ceased being added in January of 2024, when Harmonix redirected its attention to Fortnite Festival.

It is a truly remarkable legacy and the most enduring title in the plastic instrument peripheral trend, initiated by Harmonix’s own Guitar Hero back on PS2.

The base game (which includes the Rivals expansion by default) is currently priced at $9.99/£7.99, so if you do not own it but wish to access it moving forward, it’s affordable — but there are only a few days remaining until its removal.
