Xbox Reveals New Conversion Rates For Game Pass Premium & Ultimate

By on October 2, 2025 0 1 Views

With Xbox revealing a revamp to Game Pass today which incorporates new tiers and pricing, there has inevitably been an adjustment to the conversion rates that come into effect when you transition from one tier of the service to another.

These conversion rates have frequently been favored as a strategy for purchasing economical memberships and upgrading to a superior tier, but the ratios are quite meager nowadays in comparison to what they once were!

Thus, as of today (October 1st), Xbox mentions that the following will be applicable when elevating to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate:

Upon upgrading to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, we will convert any prepaid duration you possess on Xbox Game Pass or EA Play subscriptions and apply it towards Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at the existing conversion rate, up to a cap of 36 months.

  • Xbox Game Pass Essential conversion percentage: 40% of your remaining duration will transfer to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate duration and be rounded up to the next complete day. For instance, 90 days left of Xbox Game Pass Essential will convert to 36 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate duration.
  • PC Game Pass conversion percentage: 65% of your remaining duration will transfer to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and be rounded up to the next complete day. For example, 90 days left of PC Game Pass will convert to 59 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate duration.
  • Xbox Game Pass Premium and Game Pass for Console conversion ratio: 55% of your remaining duration will transfer to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and be rounded up to the next complete day. For example, 90 days left of Xbox Game Pass Premium or Game Pass for Console will convert to 50 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate duration.
  • EA Play conversion percentage: 20% of your remaining duration will transfer to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and be rounded up to the next complete day. For example, 90 days left of EA Play will convert to 18 days of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate duration.

In the meantime, if you’re transitioning to the new Xbox Game Pass Premium tier (previously referred to as Xbox Game Pass Standard), Xbox is indicating that any Game Pass Essential duration you possess will be converted at a ratio of 3:2.

Game Pass Essential, for those who haven’t been following closely, is the new designation for Game Pass Core. Indeed, it’s somewhat perplexing!

When you elevate to Xbox Game Pass Premium, we shall convert any prepaid duration you have on Xbox Game Pass Essential and apply it towards Xbox Game Pass Premium at the prevailing conversion ratio, up to a maximum of 13 months.

  • Xbox Game Pass Essential conversion ratio: Any remaining duration will convert to Xbox Game Pass Premium duration at a ratio of 3:2 and be rounded up to the next complete day. For instance, 90 days left of Xbox Game Pass Essential will convert to 60 days of Xbox Game Pass Premium duration.

But what if you still have some prepaid Game Pass Core, Xbox Live Gold, Xbox Game Pass for Console, PC Game Pass, or EA Play membership duration? Microsoft has you covered on that front as well.
