Happy Wednesday to all, and it’s a joyful one, as Sony has launched a fresh PS5 firmware upgrade.
Upgrading the console’s operating system to version 25.06-12.02.00, the update is currently available for download and installation, with a size of approximately 1.3 GB.
So, what does it accomplish? Here’s the official patch note, singular:
- We have implemented several security enhancements to the operating system.
It’s merely a minor one, then — at least regarding features. The new PS5 firmware simply addresses some vulnerabilities.

It’s a bit less captivating than the previous firmware release for the console, which introduced a new power-saving feature for compatible PS5 titles. It also allowed users to connect a DualSense controller to multiple devices.
Both are quite nice enhancements, if not the most thrilling in the realm of gaming.
