However, it can’t surpass Tsushima

Ghost of Yotei Famitsu Review Score

Renowned Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has just released its newest issue — and it includes a critique for Ghost of Yotei.

The PS5 exclusive, which debuts tomorrow as of this writing, has received an almost flawless rating of 39/40.

For Famitsu, this is an infrequent event; only 30 games — by our tally — have ever obtained a flawless 40/40. Meanwhile, merely 55 games have achieved the near flawless 39/40.

Their review framework features four distinct ratings from four various reviewers, each rated out of 10. The points are subsequently summed up — hence Yotei’s acquired three 10/10s and one 9/10 to reach 39/40.

Curiously, however, Ghost of Tsushima achieved a flawless Famitsu 40/40 upon its initial release on PS4 in 2020. It was only the third non-Japanese game to ever receive such a score.

Yotei hasn’t managed to surpass its predecessor, but Sucker Punch will undoubtedly be thrilled with this outcome.

You might recall that Tsushima became a massive success among Japanese gamers — and review ratings like this should assist Yotei in attaining a similar level of success. Or at least, that’s what Sony hopes for.

Do you believe Ghost of Yotei will follow in Tsushima’s trajectory? Is it fated to be Sucker Punch’s second major Japanese hit? Aim to be nearly perfect in the comments section below.
