It operates impressively, reveals Digital Foundry
Digital Foundry has recently released its technical evaluation for the new open-world zombie escapade Dying Light: The Beast, and the outcomes are favorable for console gamers – even though they are rather anticipated.
The conclusion is that this new Dying Light extension exhibits robust performance across nearly all console settings, with Xbox Series X and PS5 delivering comparable results across their 30FPS and 60FPS configurations. The Beast is the latest title on Xbox Series S to offer just one 30FPS setting – yet it functions exceptionally well throughout the open world in DF’s assessments.
Series X and PS5 players also receive a pleasant additional feature; Dying Light: The Beast includes an unlocked frame rate mode on all consoles except Series S – signifying that if you possess a 120Hz VRR-capable screen, you can push the game beyond 60FPS. It doesn’t approach 120FPS by any measure, but it does exceed 60 and with VRR should provide a fairly seamless experience overall.
Overall, the outlet appears quite pleased with Dying Light: The Beast’s console performance. Nevertheless, the review concludes by noting that Dying Light 2 had a broader selection of settings on console (including a patched 60FPS mode for Series S), and it’s hopeful that developer Techland will enhance this new installment at some point. We too look forward to more settings in the future – and in the meantime, you can view the complete video review above to learn how the game is performing on Xbox currently.
