Time to Slime

The plethora of Dragon Quest recently is a pleasure to witness, but even though we’re truly excited for Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake later in the year, it’s Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined that has our attention with genuine eagerness.
The original PS1 game, despite its astonishing length, stands out as one of the superior JRPGs on a platform teeming with them – and while it’s been polarizing, we personally cherish the doll-like interpretation of Akira Toriyama’s legendary art.
Direct from the exhibition floor at the Tokyo Game Show earlier today, Square Enix presented nearly 20 minutes of gameplay footage from the title.
It appears stunning – the world map resembles a diorama sprung to life, while the combat is brimming with personality.
The publisher also touched upon its contentious choice to “streamline” the game.
It clarified that it has eliminated some of the original’s more “unnecessary” elements, like backtracking, in order to decrease frustration and accelerate the pace of the storyline. In our view, that’s a positive move.
What are your thoughts on this latest Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined footage? Keep in mind, the game is set to launch on 5th February, which is really not too distant at all. Will you be pre-ordering this title?
