October is consistently a fascinating period for PS Plus, as members typically start looking ahead to increasingly hectic release schedules and, naturally, Halloween festivities.
Luckily, Sony has grasped the significance of the latter, as Alan Wake 2 stands out as the prominent highlight of next month’s selection.
Remedy’s often eccentric sequel has been one of the top-reviewed launches of 2023, showcasing an unusually bizarre and wonderfully intricate narrative that centers around various captivating themes. And at times, it genuinely embodies a horror game — which is, of course, ideal for the season.

Alan is accompanied by the enchanting Cocoon, which some might contend is the true treasure of October’s offerings. This skillfully designed indie elevates the concept of exploring various interactive spaces to remarkable levels. It’s challenging to adequately describe here, but trust us when we assert the gameplay loop is superb.
To cap things off, we also have Goat Simulator 3, which may provide a fitting escape from the terrors of Alan Wake 2. A silly yet fairly entertaining release, all considered.
But what do you think about your PS Plus Essential titles for October 2025? As always, share your thoughts in our polls, and then elaborate on your perspective in the comments section below.
Robert (or Rob if you prefer brevity) serves as an assistant editor at Push Square, and has been enamored with PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 opened his eyes to the marvelous world of video gaming. Perhaps a bit too much, some might argue.
