By Gameplay of Octopath Traveler 0 also unveiled

This week, a plethora of new gameplay footage is showcased at the Tokyo Game Show, and in addition to all the trailers from Square Enix, the firm has also provided another glimpse at Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined.
This title was revealed earlier this month and will launch on the Switch and Switch 2 on 5th February 2026.
Currently, at Japan’s major gaming event, Square Enix has debuted approximately 17 minutes of live gameplay footage during its presentation. The gameplay appears between 27:43 – 44:39 (thanks, Gematsu), and although it’s entirely in Japanese, there’s still ample footage available to grasp what you can anticipate.
If you missed the announcement earlier this month, Square Enix has also acknowledged that there is no upgrade option offered or planned for the Switch version. Thus, you will need to purchase the title on Switch 2 if you wish to enjoy it on this console. The Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (set to release next month) also received a trailer yesterday showcasing a new underwater area.
Update: Square Enix has also presented approximately 18 minutes of gameplay footage of Octopath Traveler 0 during the same presentation. This game will be available for Switch and Switch 2 on 4th December 2025. You can view the gameplay between the 40:00 – 58:10 mark in the video below:
