That’s one strategy for unfavorable reviews
How soon is too soon for a reboot?
IGGYMOB feels that sufficient time has elapsed since Gungrave G.O.R.E.’s 2022 launch to justify this comprehensive Blood Heat revival.
While a launch date hasn’t been revealed, the developer characterizes this as an Unreal Engine 5 enhancement of the gun-fu classic, preserving the “series’ spirit while providing a fresh experience through evolution tailored for contemporary hardware”.
Visual enhancements are to be expected, and the developer claims it has heavily invested in the combat dynamics, overall tempo, and animations. Gungrave G.O.R.E. didn’t receive particularly favorable reviews, achieving a 4/10 in our Push Square critique.
Here’s a statement from the press release:
“Gungrave G.O.R.E, which marked the iconic gunslinger’s resurgence, has undergone Full Rebuild and re-emerges as Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat. The Gungrave franchise is a gritty action shooter intellectual property that has been active since the early 2000s. It has garnered admiration from numerous fans for its intense shootouts, stylish direction, and the profound theme of ‘revenge beyond death’.”
It seems to us that the studio likely gained substantial insights from the creation of the original title and has thus chosen to rebuild from the ground up for this remake. Here’s hoping they can perfect the gameplay this time around.
