Resident Evil Requiem, the most recent main installment in Capcom’s enduring survival horror franchise, was just announced for Switch 2, set to debut on 27th February 2026.

Thanks to the game’s showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2026, we now have a glimpse of Requiem operating on the Switch 2 in handheld mode, as graciously pointed out by Stealth40K on X.

The demo itself might feel somewhat familiar since it has already been presented on various other platforms. Consequently, some visual reductions may seem rather noticeable from this new footage. Honestly, though, it appears rather stunning otherwise, especially when you delve into the actual gameplay and observe how effective the environmental lighting is.

You’ll also notice that, as stated by Capcom, Requiem will be accessible in either first-person or third-person perspectives. So if you’re a supporter of the developer’s recent mainline titles like RE7 and RE: Village, then first-person could be your preferred option. For those who favor RE2 and RE4, then third-person might indeed be the superior choice.

It’s a relatively brief video, but it still serves as an excellent indicator of what Switch 2 users can anticipate when the game releases early next year. As confirmed in the reveal trailer, Requiem will also take enthusiasts back to the remnants of Raccoon City and the R.P.D station, and there are strong rumors that seasoned Leon S. Kennedy will be making a comeback either as a playable character or in a supportive capacity.
