Pokemon enthusiasts can grab the newly released Detective Pikachu Limited Edition Steelbook at a discounted price on Amazon. Launched in April for $33, this vibrant new 4K Blu-ray edition can be snagged for just $21.49. Additionally, Amazon is providing an extra 20% off to selected customers, reducing the cost to merely $17.19.
Initially released on Blu-ray in 2019, Detective Pikachu also featured an exclusive steelbook case version available at Best Buy. That special edition has since sold out and is often listed at outrageous prices on eBay and other platforms. The new edition comes with a distinct steelbook case showcasing Ryme City’s top detective.
Pokemon Detective Pikachu Steelbook Edition (4K Blu-ray)

The new Limited Edition Steelbook of Detective Pikachu includes 4K Blu-ray and 1080p Blu-ray discs, along with a coupon to redeem a digital copy. This voucher must be used by June 30, 2027.
The artwork on the front and back displays Pikachu’s cheerful face with Ryme City in the background. The interior design features a still from the movie showing Tim Goodman with Pikachu perched on his shoulder.
Technically, this is an upgraded 4K Blu-ray edition that supports HDR10 and various enhanced audio formats: Dolby Atmos, TrueHD 7.1, and Digital 5.1.

It’s important to mention that standard editions of Detective Pikachu frequently sell for a low price. Currently, the 4K Blu-ray edition is $15 and the 1080p Blu-ray is $8.
Detective Pikachu played a significant role in altering the perception and anticipations regarding video game adaptations. It also set a precedent for live-action adaptations of other beloved game franchises with similar animated graphical styles. Until The Super Mario Bros. Movie broke records in 2023, Detective Pikachu was the top-grossing video game adaptation ever. At the beginning of 2025, it still retained the second position. However, that lead didn’t remain for long. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 surged ahead of Detective Pikachu early in the year. Then it was overtaken once more by A
Minecraft Film, which nearly became the second video game adaptation to surpass $1 billion at the box office.
