Acquire this update on Switch 2
Mario Kart World has received a series of updates since its launch on the Switch 2 in June, and now the newest one for September has been unveiled.
This elevates the game to Version 1.3.0 and introduces some appreciated modifications in the “Free Roam” mode. It also includes some useful enhancements, such as the capability to view “P Switches you’ve traversed and Peach Medallions you’ve collected” on the map.
This recent update tackles various challenges you may or may not have faced as well. Here’s the comprehensive summary, thanks to Nintendo’s official support page:
Mario Kart World: Ver. 1.3.0 (Released September 23, 2025)
General
- You can now connect with friends engaged in “Knockout Tour” by selecting “Friends” from “Online Play” “1p.”
- Up to 2 players can now participate in “Free Roam” while waiting if the game was at full capacity when attempting to join friends in “Race,” “Knockout Tour,” or “Battle” in “Online Play.”
- The “Free Roam” map now reveals the positions of P Switches you’ve traversed and Peach Medallions you’ve collected.
- You can now choose a P Switch from the map and move to a location nearby the P Switch.
- In “Free Roam”, you can now morph into the character pulled into the UFO.
- If “Dash Food” in “Settings/Controller” is configured to “Doesn’t transform,” then you will not change.
- It is now simpler to encounter UFOs in “Free Roam.”
- The conditions for the emergence of select Peach Medallions in “Free Roam” have been modified.
- When spectating in “Knockout Tour” or “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play” or “Wireless Play,” you can now choose who to observe, even if you are holding the Joy-Con 2 or Joy-Con horizontally.
- Reduced the interval between when an item box is claimed by someone and the next time it is replenished.
- Extended the invincibility time after spinning or crashing during a race.
- Minimized the force of jumps when landing on an opponent from above.
- Reduced the time gap between finishing and when spectating kicks off in “Knockout Tour” or “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play” or “Wireless Play.”
- Shortened the time gap between passing a checkpoint and when the ranking is displayed in “Knockout Tour” in “Wireless Play” and “LAN Play.”
- Further boosted the occurrence of lap-type courses appearing in the selection when picking the next course in “VS Race” and wireless competitions.
Fixed Issues
- Resolved an issue in “Online Play” and “Wireless Play” where the ranking could occasionally become inaccurate if a player went off track while simultaneously crossing the finish line.
- Rectified an issue in “Grand Prix,” “Knockout Tour,” and “VS Race” where the CPU’s ranking would sometimes decrease after reaching the finish line.
- Addressed an issue in “Knockout Tour” in “Online Play” where other players’ ratings would occasionally show as “0” on the results page.
- Fixed an issue where a Spiny Shell would sometimes overtake the player in first place in “Wireless Play” or “Online Play.”
- Resolved an issue where players would sometimes be propelled backward a significant distance when struck by a Spiny Shell.
- Addressed an issue where the second item in an item slot would occasionally not vanish when hit by Lightning.
- Corrected an issue where striking the base of a pillar in mid-air would sometimes result in an excessive jump.
- Rectified an issue that occasionally caused movement to become erratic when performing a wall ride on water.
- Fixed an issue where players would sometimes be forcefully pushed back after landing when executing a mini jump while ascending a river.
- Resolved an issue where players would sometimes pass through the ground after being hit by a vehicle on the road.
- Fixed an issue in “Free Roam” where players would occasionally be unable to enter pipes correctly after leaving a trailer.
- Rectified an issue where the results screen would occasionally become distorted after observing “Balloon Battle” in “Online Play.”
- Addressed an issue where the game would sometimes fail to progress to the course selection screen after exiting a pipe during “Free Roam” in “Online Play.”
- Fixed an issue where Bullet Bill would sometimes penetrate walls when used in “Sky-High Sundae.”
- Rectified an issue where players would sometimes get lodged on a wall at the start of the race moving from “Airship Fortress” to “Shy Guy Bazaar.”
- Fixed an issue where players would sometimes get trapped in walls when using a Bullet Bill in “Bowser’s Castle.”
- Resolved an issue in “Cheep Cheep Falls” where item boxes were occasionally difficult to collect when Smart Steering was activated.
- Rectified an issue in “Knockout Tour” “Spiny Rally” where sometimes an item box was buried underground.
- Numerous other issues have been resolved to enhance the gameplay experience.
