Mission Scrap

Howdy folks, and greetings to the newest round of Cover Clash!
Seven days ago we sized up Forsaken for the N64—admittedly not the most electrifying pair of covers. Still, North America clinched victory with 59% of ballots. Props!
Today we revisit the Game Boy to inspect Operation C, rebranded Probotector across Europe. Launched in 1991, the “C” hinted at “Commando”, a nod many link to the late-’80s Iran-Contra scandal.

It’s a triple-threat showdown, so let’s dive straight in.
North America
A textbook Contra-flavored layout bursts with adrenaline as a colossal scorpion catches lead. The pulp-comic illustration grabs us every time—pure eye-candy.
Europe
Because Europe swapped soldiers for ‘bots, we’re treated to chrome-plated heroes front and center. The art still rocks, though the framing feels slightly less explosive than its overseas cousin.
Japan
Japan opts for a lone commando who could pass for Arnold Schwarzenegger’s pixel twin. The stark white backdrop makes the figure pop—clean, bold, and striking.
Cheers for casting your ballot! Catch you later for the next Box Art Brawl.
