Here we go, Dragon Quest devotees!
Square Enix revealed this morning that Dragon Quest 7 (or Dragon Quest VII, if you insist on the official name) is being treated to a “Reimagined” edition for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and additional systems on February 5th, 2026.
Peek at the trailer above for an early look, highlighting the “new hand-crafted visual style that bursts with personality and charm”. Originally launched in 2000, the title later saw a 3DS overhaul in 2013, yet it has never appeared on Xbox in any shape until now.
“This fresh take introduces a bespoke, hand-painted aesthetic that makes the world and its inhabitants feel more alive than ever. On top of that, overhauled combat systems and modern quality-of-life tweaks give the adventure a contemporary edge—perfect for first-timers and seasoned fans alike.
Storytelling has been tightened as well. Presented through a collection of vignettes woven into a grander tale, the plot now moves at a brisker pace while preserving the emotional depth for which the entry is celebrated.”
The franchise enjoys towering stature among JRPGs, and judging by these enhancements, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined looks set to serve as a stellar gateway for rookies and a welcome revisit for veterans.
Pre-orders are expected to hit the Xbox Store later today; meanwhile, sample screenshots await below:
