Lethal Reimagined

Koei Tecmo confirmed this morning that Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly, the sophomore entry in the Fatal Frame / Project Zero lineup, is in line for a ground-up remake—launching on Xbox Series X|S during Early 2026.
The studio promises a thorough reconstruction, billing the project as “a total revamp touching every facet, from graphics and sound to fundamental mechanics and input feel.” Below is extra detail on what’s fresh inside this new take on Fatal Frame 2:
“We’ve rebuilt the game from scratch, upgrading visuals, audio, core systems and control responsiveness. The iconic Camera Obscura mechanic for trapping and repelling ghosts stays front-and-center, now delivering deeper, more immersive loops in both exploration and battles. On top of that, the newly added ‘Holding Hands with Mayu’ feature brings emotional weight, letting players feel the sisters’ tight-knit connection more intimately than ever.”
No firmer launch day has been locked in yet, but with Early 2026 looming we’re eager to soak up more J-horror on Xbox. Honestly, between Silent Hill F and Resident Evil Requiem dropping soon, fans of Japanese scares are feasting!
