Round Up: Every “Exciting New Game” From The Acclaim Showcase

By on September 11, 2025 0 24 Views

Acclaim has resurfaced, and this morning it heralded a “fresh chapter” with its inaugural presentation. Missed the stream? No sweat—Nintendo Life has condensed the highlights for you.

Right now only one confirmed Nintendo-bound title sits on the list (that would be Basketball Classics for Switch), yet a cluster of other “thrilling” projects were unveiled, all earmarked for eventual console launches. Exact hardware targets remain under wraps for the moment.

“We’re over the moon to resurrect Acclaim with a slate that honors our daring roots while serving up brand-new memories,” remarked CEO Alex Josef. “Today’s reveals are merely the opening salvos in our quest to reinvent joy for gamers across the globe.”

Below you’ll find the full briefing; should we learn that any of these adventures are heading to Switch (or its rumored successor), we’ll update this page or spin up a fresh game hub.

GRIDbeat! – Console Version Locked, Machines TBA

“Step inside GRIDbeat: a pulse-driven cyber labyrinth where every step must ride the soundtrack—or the network fries you. You just cracked Knoss.OS, the planet’s most armored corporate grid, and swiped a fortune in data. Now the firewall’s crashed behind you, sentries and viruses are on your tail, and salvation demands dancing to the server’s rhythm before the entire lattice seals shut.”

Basketball Classics – “Switch port on the horizon”

Hoops nostalgia returns! Basketball Classics delivers side-scrolling 5-on-5 carnage that fuses old-school arcade energy with contemporary play-calling and a three-button scheme. It’s the newest member of the Acclaim Sports Classics family!!!

What’s in the locker:

• Rapid-fire Court Battles – Short possessions, huge stakes.
• Old-School Looks, New-School Depth – Hundreds of squads, 1,000+ distinct athletes, plus unlockable legends.
• Modes Galore – Quick Play, Season, and Story circuits built for infinite reruns.
• Sofa Showdowns – Local multiplayer mayhem capped with buzzer-beaters.
• Indie at Heart – Zero pay-to-win nonsense, just earnest retro roundball love.

Already live on Steam for PC; home-console edition forthcoming.

Ground Zero Hero – Console Edition Green-lit, Formats Pending

“Ground Zero Hero marries run-and-gun roguelite thrills with lightweight survival mechanics inside a fallout-scarred wasteland. Slaughter devolved horrors, guzzle their glowing entrails to mutate new perks… and devour mountains of candy. It’s mutant-mashing mayhem as you obliterate screen-filling fauna, harvest radioactive guts, and evolve into an overpowered desert monster.”

Pixel Washer – Console Port Secured, Hardware TBA

“Slip into Pixel Washer’s mellow zone: a laid-back, power-washing sim starring Pigxel, the cutest sprayer in the barn. Scrub grungy sprites across candy-colored pixel vistas, soup-up your washer, sniff out secrets, and chill at whatever tempo suits you.”

Talaka – Console Launch Locked, Platforms TBD

“Enter Talaka: a high-octane, combat-centric roguelite splashed with Afro-Brazilian folklore across hand-painted backdrops. Guide a young fighter struggling to rebalance the cosmos while ancient Orisha myths spiral into disorder. Traverse dreamscapes, endure celestial tests, and learn why the legends have revolted. With divinities watching, every clash becomes living art.”

Tossdown – Console Arrival Confirmed, Systems Later

“Welcome to Tossdown—the most unhinged (and lethal) delivery sprint ever conceived. As a courier drowning in pandemonium, you’ll rocket through imploding streets, sidestep meteors, and outpace porch pirates while racing to drop parcels before the neighborhood detonates. Velocity equals survival.”

The Prisoning: Fletcher’s Quest – Console Version Set, Devices Unannounced

“One therapy session gone sideways leaves you stuck inside the cranium of an indie developer teetering on burnout during the final push of a brutal project. Navigate a Metroidvania soaked in anxiety, drawn from a painfully real tale. Help Fletcher Howie Jr. shatter his psychic cell and salvage his sanity!”

Katanaut – Available Today (PC Only)

For the moment this one’s keyboard-and-mouse territory, though its creator hints a Switch voyage might materialize (via Reddit):

“As a one-person team I can only tackle one platform at a time, but if the game catches on I’ll absolutely port everywhere—including Switch!”

Official spiel:

“Welcome to Katanaut: a razor-sharp pixel roguelite where surgical swordplay collides with cosmic dread aboard a spiraling orbital station. Guide Naut through strobing corridors packed with ex-human horrors; every demise warps time, rewrites routes, and forces ever-deadlier reflexes and mutating load-outs.”

HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate – Console Edition Approved, Formats TBA

“Join the Snowboard Syndicate! Blaze down slopes, jockey for rankings, and scour peaks with an off-beat crew. And what’s carving without style? Hunt for cosmetics—board decals, fresh threads—while you explore and race so you sparkle brightest when you shred.”
