By Helldivers 2 has a knack for uniting players—especially now that Xbox Series X|S users can team up with their PS5 and PC comrades in the fight to keep Super Earth alive. While fans have begged for an in-game gathering place akin to Destiny’s Tower, that idea isn’t on the near-term roadmap. It could, however, show up in Helldivers 3.
Arrowhead CEO Shams Jorjani tackled the social-hub wish-list item during a recent Reddit AMA (spotted by Games Radar). “It’s already scribbled on the feature list for the sequel,” he said.
Don’t hold your breath for that hangout, though. Jorjani stressed on Discord that the studio’s eyes are fixed on the present: “Helldivers 3 is hopefully still several years off.”
Helldivers 2 just rocketed beyond 500,000 simultaneous players, and that milestone arrived before the Into the Unjust update unloaded a pile of fresh content, including brutish foes on the Hive Worlds. Hive Lords are near-impossible to drop unless you’re packing boatloads of nukes. You can attempt the job without them, but the fight usually turns into a comedy slaughter starring the bugs.
Jorjani has pointed out that most Helldivers 2 fans play “quietly,” sending little feedback the devs can act on. Still, the crew keeps dropping beefy patches and quick hotfixes to squash bugs so troopers can return to stomping galactic insects without hiccups. The war never ends—so gear up and dive back in, Helldivers!
