Indiana Jones Order Of Giants DLC Launches To ‘Mixed’ Feedback In First 24 Hours

More than a full day has passed since the Indiana Jones Order of Giants add-on debuted on Xbox and other platforms, and—echoing the situation with Hollow Knight: Silksong—Bethesda elected not to distribute advance review copies.

We’ve begun our own playthrough at Pure Xbox (expect our early thoughts hopefully next Monday), yet only one finished critique has surfaced so far—from Game8, awarding the expansion a standout 86/100.

Their closing remarks read:

“The Order of Giants thoughtfully broadens Indy’s Great Circle adventure with solid narrative beats, moody environments and a refined gameplay flow. Still, spotty combat tuning, less-inspired puzzles and a somewhat cramped locale stop it just short of brilliance. Where it excels, it does so with swagger, proving an add-on doesn’t have to break the mould to be worthwhile.”

Yet broader sentiment has tilted toward middling—and “Mixed” is literally the badge it wears on Steam after its initial 50 user appraisals. Observers seem to appreciate what’s on offer, but a common gripe is the skimpy runtime relative to the $20 (or marginally lower) price tag.

A handful of customer blurbs on the Xbox Store mirror that Steam tone.

First, a pair of upbeat takes:

Teddy B on Steam: “Enjoyable side trip with clever brain-teasers. On a clean save the DLC slots in naturally; you can wrap the core tale in 3–4 hours and it feels like an extra Vatican layer. Not the post-credits epilogue I dreamed of, and it’s fairly linear, yet clearing every secret still delighted me.”

hellboy632789 on Steam: “Essentially extra servings of the main dish. I adored the base game, so getting another slice was welcome. A handful of hours in I’m apparently near the end. It’s brief, but if you loved the original campaign you’ll leave happy.”

See the pattern? Fans of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will likely vibe with The Order of Giants. That’s welcome news for anyone simply craving extra whip-cracking.

Even so, plenty of early adopters—positive ones included—flag the purchase as light on bang for buck.

Two more critical voices:

Boboscus on Steam: “Far too steep for the content inside. If it hadn’t come with my Premium copy I’d hold off for a discount; story wrapped in three hours, maybe another left for trinkets. Most of the romp is sewer trudging—basically the compulsory sewer stage. Plot turns and the finale were neat, yet the tariff feels inflated.”

Fuyu on Steam: “Two to three hours for the critical path, mostly stuck beneath Rome in twisty pipes that are a pain to backtrack for collectibles. I also hit a bug blocking one mystery and note; two hours vanished trying to fix it until several restarts finally worked. That ordeal drained my goodwill. Only the riddles and closing boss—tougher than the base game—earned my thumbs-up.”

And there you have it—the recipe behind the “Mixed” stew. We’ll need more time before Metacritic and OpenCritic fill out, yet it seems unlikely the expansion will equal the main game’s aggregated highs.

Remember: anyone who owns a “Premium” flavour of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gets the add-on gratis, while Game Pass subscribers nab a modest markdown on the standalone chunk if you fancy a weekend raid. You could probably polish it off in a single evening!
