Skate, the free-to-play rebirth of EA’s iconic skateboarding franchise, is sliding ever closer to an imminent early-access debut. Ahead of that watershed moment, Full Circle has pushed out another behind-the-scenes blog to keep the hype rolling.

The Grind Vol. 5 is now live for all to read, zooming in this time on player customisation, the soundtrack, and, most intriguingly, the team’s rolling roadmap for post-launch seasonal refreshes.

According to the entry, more than one million people jumped into the most recent test build; once early access lands, that figure promises to pale in comparison.

On the customisation front, Full Circle underlines that vast swaths of outfits and gear can be unlocked simply by playing. Although fancy premium cosmetics will sit in the cash shop, the studio insists you’ll never need to spend a dime just to keep up.

By smashing missions and nailing challenges, you bank Rip Chips—tokens that can’t be bought and only come from grinding. Drop these at the storefront in exchange for Product Boxes. Think of them as loot crates, minus the sting: you’ll always receive one fresh item from a curated set, and you’re guaranteed to collect every piece in the bundle before it refreshes.

Every box you pop also bumps your Rip Score, steadily opening the door to still more vanity items.

The jukebox, meanwhile, cranks up with 100 hand-picked tracks spanning genres and generations, featuring names like Turnstile, Denzel Curry, Little Simz, Skegss, Earth, Wind & Fire, and MF Doom. Expect new beats to be rotated in throughout each seasonal update.

Those seasons themselves will stick around for roughly three months a pop, delivering four distinct chapters each year inside Skate.

Expect San Vansterdam to shift with every quarter: new happenings in the streets, fresh mechanics, additional songs, and other surprises.

Each season will pack its own Skate Pass—think of it as a two-lane progression path, one absolutely free, the other premium if you feel like splurging.

Season 1 will kick off shortly after early access opens its doors.

According to Full Circle, deeper dives on the seasonal structure are slated for the next dev entry.

So, ready to drop in once Skate finally surfaces? Sound off in the comments.
