Another Live Service Game Is Killing Off PS4 Support
PUBG shifts to PS5 exclusivity starting 13th November

The grand-daddy of battle-royale shooters, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has announced it will cease PS4 support as this live-service game moves forward. Beginning 13th November 2025, PUBG will live solely on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Per a post on the PUBG site, the devs state they’ve made this call to safeguard “a sturdier gameplay setup on console and provide a slicker, interruption-free experience for upcoming patches.” PS5 adopters “will enjoy crisper visuals and steadier frame delivery. Moreover, memory tweaks should slash recurring crashes.”
Come 13th November, once that week’s scheduled downtime wraps, the title will vanish from both PS4 and Xbox One storefronts. “This choice wasn’t taken lightly. It follows extended deliberation aimed at advancing PUBG Console’s longevity,” the team explains.
Anyone moving to PS5 using the same PSN ID will automatically see their stats, unlocks, and bought content transferred. Notably, those unable to upgrade can apparently request a refund.
“Refunds for BATTLEGROUNDS Plus and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS will follow each platform’s return guidelines,” the post reads. “Reach out to your platform’s customer support for specifics.”
Post-patch, the standard PS5 version will target 1440p at 60 fps, while the PS5 Pro rendition aims for 4K at 60 fps. “These next-gen console specs were locked after rigorous internal validation to secure the most reliable gameplay experience on PUBG Console.”
The blog entry also offers side-by-side imagery showing how the title appears pre and post-transition.
This marks the second major free-to-play hit to drop PS4 support this week—Genshin Impact is likewise vanishing from last-gen hardware by April 2026.
“Because of enduring hardware constraints and ever-growing update sizes, support for Genshin Impact on PS4 will finish in upcoming releases,” Hoyoverse stated previously. Pre-orders halt on the PlayStation Store from 9th September, microtransactions die on 24th February, and by 7th April the PS4 build is permanently inaccessible.
