Nintendo of America and the Interstate Scholastic Esports Alliance (ISEA) have unveiled a collaboration intended “to transform esports into a more social, inclusive, and fulfilling activity.”
Beginning before the year is out, sanctioned campus tournaments and campus-wide leagues for grades 4-12 will gain official support for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Splatoon 3, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch and Switch – OLED Model, with the initiative set to involve “roughly 80,000 pupils spanning 23 states.”

In a generous gesture, Nintendo has committed to handing over “a substantial stash” of Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions and complimentary game codes. Neat!
Danielle Johnson, President of ISEA, shared the following statement:
“We’re thrilled to team up with Nintendo as we broaden and deepen student-focused esports offerings nationwide. Videogames provide an entertaining, communal pastime. Our goal is to open this door to every student—no matter their past experience level.
Campus-run gaming leagues bring together pupils who might never have joined a traditional competitive activity, offering them an inviting space at school. These initiatives not only boost attendance and academic results; they lay the groundwork for friendships and support networks that can endure far beyond graduation.”
