Nearly 24 months post-release, Microsoft has finally pushed Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Mirage onto Xbox Game Pass, slotting the 2023 entry alongside titles such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla in the catalog. With that milestone reached, have you slipped back into the franchise’s semi-recent throwback episode?
Assassin’s Creed Mirage arrived a few cycles back as an intermediate episode positioned between the mega-open-world RPGs that now roll out under the Ubisoft banner. Pitched as a retro nod to earlier Creed adventures, it garnered a split response—although we found our jaunt to Baghdad surprisingly agreeable a couple of years ago.
Granted, it wasn’t faultless—the setting didn’t buzz with the same dynamism of more recent entries—but the tighter focus was a welcome palate cleanser amid today’s avalanche of perpetual games. Vaulting across its intimate, jam-packed cityscape felt fluid and delivered the old-school Assassin’s Creed rush we’d been missing, a refreshing shift in tempo.
Ubi held Mirage back from Game Pass for a fair spell—most likely waiting for February’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows to land first—but it’s here now. How’s the reception for you? Does the classic-styled Creed formula click, or has Mirage felt underwhelming so far?
