Did you adore the old Nintendo 64 racer Snowboard Kids back in the ’90s? Or maybe the SSX franchise?
If so, an indie newcomer that hit Xbox this week—Slopecrashers—might pique your interest. Its one-person studio bills it as “sort-of a spiritual sequel,” yet fills it with plenty of fresh twists.
Choose from a wild lineup of customizable, character-ful animals and bomb down arcade-style races driven by a cutting-edge physics system. Expect 20 varied runs, a story mode packing 120+ events loaded with bonus goals, a handful of other play styles, oodles of unlocks, plus couch co-op and online multiplayer.
The dev actually shared lots of details on Reddit a couple of days ago:
You can get a glimpse of all the action in the trailer above. While the Xbox Store hasn’t amassed many user scores yet, Steam lists it as “Very Positive,” based on 77 reviews so far.
And yes, for the nostalgics: that classic chairlift from Snowboard Kids is in there, too.
We’ll definitely carve some turns in Slopecrashers, already out on Xbox One (and fully playable on Series X|S) for $14.99 / £17.49. Below, you’ll find extra screenshots and additional info.
Dive into pick-up-and-play, hard-to-master snowboarding chaos with a manic roster of configurable critters. A love-letter to old-school arcade racers, supercharged by modern physics—Slopecrashers amps racing, stunts, and combos to the max. Grab a snowboard, or perhaps a frying pan, and slice through 20 unique courses across snowy peaks, scorching dunes, or neon-bathed cyberpunk rooftops!
