Rare’s big day
- by Ben Kerry
As we just unveiled elsewhere on Pure Xbox, we have some goodies being announced today to celebrate the 40th anniversary of developer Rare – and those goodies also include a batch of fresh gamerpics and a new dynamic background on Xbox Series X|S.
Yep, to celebrate 40 years of the famous Xbox studio, Microsoft has released “a character-filled dynamic background” for Series X|S users, alongside some new gamerpics that revolve around Rare’s iconic characters – including Banjo as you can see up above!
And here’s how the dynamic background looks on Xbox Series X and S:
It may be a little busy for some but this a seriously nice, bright and colourful dynamic background – and a more than worthy addition to the Xbox Series X|S lineup. Rare has also shared some high quality images of two more of these new Xbox gamerpics, which we’ll throw down below as well.
The timing on all of this may feel a little odd following the recent cancellation of Everwild and a batch of developer layoffs that happened over at Rare recently, but it’s still nice to celebrate such a storied studio on Xbox. If you happened to miss the news on Rare’s recent troubles, we’ll link to those stories down below.
Are you going to use any of these new Xbox goodies? Talk to us about Rare’s 40th anniversary down below.
