Anyone who already owns any Atelier Ryza instalments and had hoped to jump to the freshly-minted DX editions might be dismayed to find there’s no upgrade route.

Even though the re-issues support cross-buy between PS5 and PS4—letting you tackle the crafting-centric RPG on both systems with one purchase—previous buyers, whether they snagged physical copies or downloaded them from the PlayStation Store, won’t receive any price reduction.

Ironically, transferring an existing save will net you some bonus outfits. Alas, your actual progress won’t carry over.

All three chapters can be snapped up individually as digital editions, or bought together in a bundled trilogy. Pre-ordering secures three extra photo-mode poses and one new frame for each game.

The refreshed versions land on 13 November, stuffed with every scrap of prior DLC, fresh story arcs, smoother quality-of-life features and additional visual settings.

For a full rundown of every extra dropping in each entry, head to the series’ official site. Meanwhile, here’s Koei Tecmo’s official pitch:

“Atelier Ryza Secret Trilogy Deluxe Pack invites enthusiasts back to the beloved summer escapades of alchemist extraordinaire Reisalin Stout and crew, gathering all three ‘Secret’ saga instalments—that have collectively topped 2.5 million units—in one deluxe collection. Every title gains brand-new playable faces, illustrated by Toridamono, plus extra narrative episodes scripted by Yashichiro Takahashi, scenario writer for the Secret series.”

Granted, the extras appear meaningful, yet they don’t feel weighty enough to warrant a second buy-in. Without a proper upgrade plan, only newcomers would get clear value from these editions.
