Soul oh levelling

It’s been a long, long road to release for Chinese Devil May Cry-style character action Lost Soul Aside.
But after an epic development cycle which has seen the release swap PS4 for PS5, the game is now almost upon us, with a scheduled release date of 29th August.
And here’s a bunch of new gameplay for you to sink your teeth into:
This footage has dropped ahead of next week’s ChinaJoy 2025 convention, where the game will be playable on the show floor. We get a glimpse of some truly spectacular environments, as well as some cutscenes and a lot of combat.
Obviously the proof will be in the playtest, but it looks like the protagonist has plenty of moves to call upon, and the enemies appear to present plenty of different challenges.
Our only really criticism from watching the clips is it doesn’t look like attacks connect with quite as much might as you may expect from a game of this type, so it could end up feeling swimmy or unsatisfying.
We’re optimistic about the final release, though. Obviously, we’re not expecting a Game of the Year candidate here, but a rock solid character action game could be just what the doctor ordered – especially with the likes of Devil May Cry taking a temporary break.
