Avengers assemble

In news that should give fighting game fans even more reason to be hyped for this year’s Evo, PlayStation has confirmed that Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be playable at the event.
Developed by the genre masters at Arc System Works and first revealed during June’s State of Play, Marvel Tokon is a full-on team-based brawler. Based on what we’ve seen of it so far, it looks bloody brilliant — and we’ll be getting a lot more info over the next few weeks.
Evo 2025 kicks off on the 1st August, and while it’s obviously far too soon for Marvel Tokon to be having its own tournament, a playable build will be present on the show floor, at Arc System Works’ own booth.
The build will feature six characters from the reveal trailer: Captain America, Iron Man, Ms. Marvel, Star Lord, Storm, and Dr. Doom. Attendees who give the demo a spin will be handed a “collectible pin”, which is a nice little bonus.
It goes without saying that the vast majority of people reading this article won’t actually be at Evo next month, but you can guarantee that Marvel Tokon will be getting a crazy amount of coverage from those who are going. Expect plenty of previews and fresh gameplay footage.
Plus, there’s going to be an official developer panel, which will be livestreamed on the 1st August. The plan is to “shed new light on the core gameplay mechanics”.

Robert (or Rob if you’re lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
