Here’s your initial glimpse at the Mortal Kombat 2 film from Warner Bros, featuring New Zealand performer Karl Urban as the faded movie star Johnny Cage. It premieres in cinemas, including IMAX, on 24th October.

Alright, and for those of you paying attention, you might have already witnessed this Uncaged Fury segment. This is clearly the teaser for a fictional movie that Cage featured in:
Among them will be Adeline Rudolph’s Kitana and Tati Gabrielle’s Jade. Just to clarify, yes, the Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet heroine is part of this movie.
Here’s the formal synopsis:
“From New Line Cinema comes the most recent high-stakes chapter in the blockbuster video game legacy in all its ruthless splendor, Mortal Kombat 2. This time, the beloved champions – now accompanied by Johnny Cage himself – engage against each other in the ultimate, no-holds-barred, bloody conflict to overcome the dark reign of Shao Kahn that endangers the very survival of the Earthrealm and its protectors.”

The previous Mortal Kombat film, launched during the pandemic in 2021, was quite poor – but not in a favorable manner. This appears similarly dreadful, but in a way we can value thus far. That’s how Mortal Kombat ought to be.
