Nintendo has revealed it will be conducting another Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program beginning later this month.

To register and take part, you’ll need a Nintendo Account along with an “active” Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription. This is a trial of the “same service” Nintendo tested in October of last year.

Another significant update is the capability to download this “exclusive software” on both the original Switch console and the Switch 2, which was released last month.

This trial will be accessible to participants from the US, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Japan, the UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. It is scheduled to unfold from 28th July 2025 until 10th August 2025.

Registrations will commence this week on Nintendo’s official site, and if you took part in the earlier playtest, you can apply either as an individual or as a group for this latest trial. Candidates will be accepted on a “first-come, first-served” principle.

In the lead-up to the initial playtest last year, Nintendo advised participants not to “discuss or reveal” any information about it. Naturally, this resulted in details and gameplay footage being leaked online, with some users even broadcasting their experiences.

The same regulations apply for the current trial, and Nintendo emphasizes that this playtest is “expected to welcome up to 40,000 participants globally”. This announcement follows earlier news this week regarding Nintendo hosting an online demo for Drag x Drive, which is set to launch next month.
