“Tron: Ares recounts the journey of an advanced Program, Ares, dispatched from the digital realm into the tangible world on a perilous mission, marking mankind’s initial interaction with AI entities,” states Disney’s official overview. “The feature is helmed by Joachim Rønning and features Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, along with Gillian Anderson, and Jeff Bridges. Producers include Sean Bailey, Jeffrey Silver, Justin Springer, Jared Leto, Emma Ludbrook, and Steven Lisberger, with Russell Allen as the executive producer.”

To be candid, while I was raised in the ’80s and ’90s, the original 1982 Tron film somewhat eluded my fascination. Even though I’m fond of the stylish sci-fi aesthetics, I’ve never been a zealous admirer of the franchise, despite 2010’s generally adored Tron: Legacy.

I’m uncertain whether Tron: Ares will be the film that transforms me into a Tron enthusiast, but the cyberpunk aesthetics of the trailer intrigue me, and a novel soundtrack from the legendary industrial rock outfit Nine Inch Nails is certainly an appealing enhancement.

Tron: Ares opens in theaters on October 10. In the meantime, stay informed on all our sci-fi movie news updates.
