We are eagerly anticipating Milly Alcock’s Supergirl in her own independent journey next year after her brief role in Superman. The cameo provided an initial glimpse of the character and her superhero attire, which we had the chance to examine more thoroughly in a now-removed image shared online.

Initially posted by co-department head of hair Lindsay McAllister on Instagram and now circulating widely on the internet, the behind-the-scenes picture depicts Alcock preparing to shoot her very first scene as Kara Zor-El. The original post was taken down, but fortunately for us, Discussing Film shared it again for all to see (you can take a look at the image below).

Alcock’s costume is quite true to classic Supergirl designs in DC comics, featuring a red skirt, blue top, yellow belt, and the Kryptonian S emblem on the chest. It perfectly complements David Corenswet’s Superman attire, with matching color tones and styles, making the cousins appear to be part of the same team. I am excited to see them battle together in the near future.

However, before that, I am thrilled to witness Kara Zor-El in her inaugural film, especially after her intriguing scene in Superman, where she bursts into the Fortress of Solitude clearly intoxicated and loudly asserts her claim to her dog Krypto. As The Bear star Ayo Edebiri would say, I’m simply too seated.

Formerly titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and now simply Supergirl, the forthcoming film will trace Kara Zor-El on a “vengeful journey for justice,” according to reports.

Discussing why he selected Supergirl as the second film in the new DCU, Superman director and DC Studios co-head James Gunn explained that it simply felt right due to the exceptional script. “I didn’t originally foresee that Supergirl would be the second film we intended to produce, but Ana [Nogueira] crafted a remarkable script, and then we engaged a fantastic director. We are proceeding with this film after Superman because it was the finest choice,” he mentioned in a recent interview.

The film is directed by Craig Gillespie and will adapt the Tom King-penned Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow limited series comic.

Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026. For more, here are the forthcoming DC films you can eagerly await.
