Talking Point: Are You Excited For Double Fine’s Follow-Up To Psychonauts 2?

During last month’s Xbox Games Showcase by Microsoft, we noticed that one particular first-party title seemed to fly under the radar a bit – namely Double Fine’s Keeper. Indeed, the studio that delivered the remarkable Psychonauts 2 in 2021 is preparing to make a comeback later this year with its latest project, and we are keen to learn if you’re eager for its imminent launch.

To be frank, we aren’t entirely certain what to anticipate from Keeper, apart from it being another eccentric and profoundly fascinating offering from the Xbox developer. Honestly, we don’t really need to be informed extensively about a new Double Fine release ahead of time – this team consistently offers something worthwhile to experience.

According to official summaries of the forthcoming title, Keeper “embarks on a uplifting story of unexpected friendship, and an unforeseen expedition into realms beyond comprehension” – which is music to our ears, particularly following Psychonauts 2. In fact, here’s the complete description from Double Fine Productions:

“From Lee Petty and Double Fine Productions, the creators of Stacking, Headlander, RAD, and Psychonauts, Keeper is an exquisite and surreal third-person, atmospheric, puzzle adventure, and a narrative conveyed without dialogue.

On an island amidst a long-lost ocean, a forgotten lighthouse rests dormant in the shadow of a distant mountain summit. As withering tendrils spread and merge, it awakens. Driven by an enigmatic sense of purpose and accompanied by a spirited seabird, it sets forth on an uplifting tale of unexpected companionship, an odyssey of mysterious transformation, and an unforeseen journey towards the heart of the island, into realms beyond comprehension.”

So, does this resonate with you? Honestly, we haven’t discussed this one much since its unveiling last month, but we are undeniably excited to engage with it in just a few short months come October 2025. It seems like a packed month, but are you finding a way to fit this one into Xbox Game Pass?

Let us know if you’re enthusiastic about Keeper in the poll below, and continue the conversation in the comments!
