During the Niko era
- by Sammy Barker

If you’re a PlayStation enthusiast, then GTA 4 has transformed into one of Rockstar’s nostalgic titles.
The dismal Liberty City journey and its two expansions are exclusively playable on the PS3, and since Sony hasn’t extended backwards compatibility to its previous-gen console, you will require the original device if you wish to experience them.
In the instance of Red Dead Redemption, the company addressed this by launching a native PS4 port, which operates at 60fps in backwards compatibility on the PS5.
Numerous speculations suggest the publisher might be poised to implement that approach with Niko Bellic’s somber adventure.
Recently, enthusiasts observed that the official support page for GTA 4 listed the PS4 as a supported platform. While crafting this piece, the page was revised, eliminating any reference to the last-gen console. However, you can observe proof here.
This aligns with the gossip from Rockstar aficionado Tez2 earlier this year, when he suggested that a port of GTA 4 might be arriving on contemporary systems later this year. In this context, making it available on PS4 would be sufficient as it would also be playable on the PS5 through backwards compatibility, presumably with enhancements.
Naturally, it’s entirely plausible this was a simple oversight on the publisher’s part, which has since been corrected.
If GTA 4 is indeed making its way to the current PlayStation platforms this year, we would anticipate an announcement soon. It would undeniably be a fantastic way to fill the gap before GTA 6 is released in May.
