The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless has consistently been one of my preferred PS5 headsets since it was delivered to my residence, and its newly gained compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2 has further intensified my admiration for it.
Now, anyone possessing a Switch 2 can understand precisely why I celebrate it as one of the top-notch gaming headsets available, especially as Prime Day Nintendo Switch promotions have slashed its price to merely $99.74 on Amazon, providing a $30 discount from its $129.99 MSRP.
While it’s the Xbox edition (5X) that’s on sale, don’t be misled. A recent firmware update ensures that this headset is entirely compatible via Bluetooth or its 2.4GHz wireless dongle with Nintendo’s latest handheld.
To clarify, I currently own the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5P variant of the headset, tailored for the PS5. The only distinction is that mine isn’t compatible with any Xbox consoles, but it remains an ideal set of cups to use in conjunction with the PS5, PC, and naturally, the Nintendo Switch 2.
You can connect the 5 Wireless via Bluetooth to Nintendo’s new console, or simply insert the compact wireless dongle into the new USB-C port at the top of the device, and you’re set. The truly outstanding Neodymium 40mm audio drivers enhance Mario Kart World, bringing out the game’s soundtrack vibrancy while ensuring that the roar of your kart’s engine isn’t overwhelming.
This wireless headset excels most through its myriad of audio presets, accessible via the Arctis app or the brand’s GG software. Given the limited collection of first-party games currently available, there is merely a Mario Kart World preset for Switch 2 games, but it effectively balances the intricate soundstage. I truly believe that with the preset activated, I have managed to dodge significantly more koopas than usual, making it vital to my Mario Kart World techniques.
Both the all-black 5X version and the white SKU Arctis Nova 5P are priced at $99.74 at Amazon for Prime Day. The sole difference between the two, besides the color options, lies in the patterned headband. The 5X showcases a black and green swirling design that aligns more with the Xbox style, while the white version is, as you might expect, completely white.
If you prefer your gaming headsets to have a bit more flair, you could opt for the SteelSeries Arctis Nova 3 Wireless instead. Although it isn’t part of this week’s Prime Day discounts, it consistently retails for just $109.99 at Amazon and is available in stunning Aqua and Lilac variations.
Thanks to the recent update in SteelSeries GG software, the 3 Wireless is also fully functional on the Switch 2, you’ll just need to adapt to its minor differences, including integrated fast charging support, detachable ClearCast Gen 2.X microphone, and its updated slim 2.4GHz wireless dongle – which fits just as effortlessly into the top Nintendo handheld’s USB-C port.
