Sandy Cheeks, the charming Texan squirrel from Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants, also transforms into a fearsome barbarian in the forthcoming action RPG Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny, which GamesRadar+ can exclusively disclose. Considering Sandy’s reputation for her intense, abrupt fury and formidable might, this adaptation is quite fitting.
The tabletop-inspired game – which appears to adopt numerous visual and frankly mechanical features from the Diablo series, although minus the gore or dark narrative – invites up to four players on an adventure through fantastical realms (like Bikini Bottomshire) to solve puzzles, vanquish bosses, and more. Each character, including Sandy, SpongeBob, and others, embodies a specific RPG character class such as wizard or barbarian.
For Sandy, this translates to plenty of jumping around, lassoing creatures, and generally being a nuisance. While she may seem adorable and snugly, you definitely don’t want to cross her.
“The sensation of dragging waves of foes through the environment and the force of your strikes make playing with Sandy incredibly gratifying,” states Humberto Rodrigues, game director for Nicktoons & The Dice of Destiny at the studio Petit Fabrik.
“We had immense fun crafting the lasso and gathering creatures together before we could pound them repeatedly, probably thousands of times throughout the development phase,” Rodrigues adds.

- Big Acorn – Sandy consumes a massive acorn. It gradually restores health over time, healing her for several seconds.
- Hammer Swing – A traditional and straightforward double-hit hammer combo that inflicts damage and replenishes mana with each strike.
- Hibernation Mode – Sandy channels her primal instincts and transforms into hibernation Sandy, enhancing her strength. While this is active, her ground-slamming attacks deal substantial damage across a wide area.
- Hurricane Attack – Sandy continuously spins with a powerful 360-degree kick, hitting all nearby foes with rapid, circular force.
- Avalanche Strike – Sandy propels herself into the air and crashes down with a devastating shockwave, damaging all adversaries around her. While airborne, tap the Skill button again to execute a mid-air stomp and conclude the attack prematurely.
- Rodeo Lasso – Sandy tosses her lasso to snare enemies, yanking anyone ensnared directly toward her. She can then follow up with any available moves.
