The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom received an update from Nintendo, pleasing fans who discovered that the new item duplication exploit remains intact.

Since the launch of Tears of the Kingdom, enthusiasts have attempted to discover how to exploit Nintendo’s open-world masterpiece, and with the arrival of the Switch 2 version of the game, gamers instantly resumed their efforts to push the boundaries further. They achieved notable success, with some observing how the enhanced framerate enables incredibly powerful laser cannons and the Zelda Notes application lets users summon countless dogs, Ganons, and other entities within the game.

Naturally, players uncovered an item duplication exploit almost immediately, allowing for the most coveted items in Hyrule to be recreated from scratch, from monster components, weaponry, and, crucially, Diamonds, which fetch a high price in Hyrule’s shops and serve as an excellent means to accumulate Rupees.

Earlier this week, Nintendo issued Update 1.4.2 for Tears of the Kingdom, which aimed at resolving Zelda Notes problems and a bug where music failed to play during battles on the Switch 2 edition. Nonetheless, Nintendo also included one of its traditionally ambiguous statements, “numerous other issues have been addressed to enhance the gameplay experience,” sparking concerns among players that their cherished exploits may have been eliminated.

However, according to users on the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit, Update 1.4.2 is entirely safe if you wish to continue duplicating weapons and items in-game. “Great news!” a player announces, sharing the update.

However, for those intrigued by the idea of summoning Ganondorf and thinking it seemed exciting, one user remarked that this capability is no longer available unless you have him already saved to your preferred summons in-game, so you’re out of luck on that front.

Wind Waker on Nintendo Switch 2 introduced two slight alterations that open it wide for Zelda speedrunners – a method so challenging “only a handful of people in the entire world can execute it” now appears much simpler.
