“Retro Classics has resonated remarkably well”
The Xbox Retro Classics program has inevitably proved very popular with Xbox Game Pass members since it was introduced back in late May, with the announcement that it’s already passed one million active players on the service.
Antstream Arcade, which is running the Retro Classics program for Xbox, revealed how it only took 27 days to hit the one million figure mark, resulting in “hundreds of thousands of hours of play across millions of game sessions” so far.
“Surpassing 1 million active users in the first 27 days, Retro Classics has resonated remarkably well with the Game Pass community with hundreds of thousands of hours of play across millions of game sessions.”
Just recently, it was announced that five games had been added to Xbox Retro Classics, and now we’re being told that over 100 (specifically 120) will be added in the “coming months” – spanning the rest of 2025 and “well into” 2026.
“The roadmap delivers over 120 classic titles over the coming months bringing new challenges and tournaments throughout 2025 and well into 2026. This achievement would not have been possible without the support and collaboration of the global Xbox and Antstream teams.”
None of these have been revealed just yet, but the team says the titles will also bring their own tournaments and challenges with them when they arrive. Xbox Retro Classics has been focused on Activision games up to this point, and it sounds like that’s going to continue with this next batch – so that narrows down the possibilities a bit!
We’ll obviously let you know when more games are added to Xbox Retro Classics in the hopefully near future, but for the time being, let us know you’re getting on with the program down in the poll and comments section below!
