“Retro Classics has connected exceptionally well”

The Xbox Retro Classics initiative has undoubtedly become quite favored among Xbox Game Pass subscribers since its launch in late May, highlighted by the fact that it has surpassed one million active users on the platform.

Antstream Arcade, responsible for the Retro Classics initiative for Xbox, disclosed that it only took 27 days to reach the one million milestone, resulting in “hundreds of thousands of hours of gameplay across millions of gaming sessions” to date.

“Exceeding 1 million active users in the initial 27 days, Retro Classics has connected exceptionally well with the Game Pass community, contributing hundreds of thousands of hours of gameplay across millions of sessions.”

Recently, it was announced that five games were incorporated into Xbox Retro Classics, and now we are informed that over 100 (specifically 120) will be included in the “upcoming months” – covering the remainder of 2025 and “well into” 2026.

“The roadmap offers over 120 classic titles over the approaching months, introducing new challenges and tournaments throughout 2025 and well into 2026. This accomplishment would not have been achieved without the backing and collaboration of the global Xbox and Antstream teams.”

While none of these titles have been disclosed yet, the team indicates that each title will include its own tournaments and challenges upon release. Xbox Retro Classics has primarily focused on Activision titles so far, and it appears this trend will continue with the next selection – which limits the options a bit!

We will certainly keep you updated when additional games join Xbox Retro Classics in the hopefully near future, but for now, share how you’re enjoying the program in the poll and comments section below!
