May the finest team triumph
Earlier, it was disclosed that EA Sports is developing a college basketball title for some time in the future, although specifics are quite scarce at this moment – it was merely a brief teaser shared on social media.
It has certainly caught the eye of 2K, who posted their own teaser stating that “the campus has been too silent for an extended period”, in reply to a comment suggesting 2K should have created a college basketball game instead of EA:
In response, 2K released a statement emphasizing their “solid legacy with college basketball” and that they are “investigating thrilling new methods to bring athletes and educational institutions to life”.
They also proclaimed themselves as the “undisputed home” of basketball games:
“2K is the undisputed hub of basketball gaming. We have a strong legacy with college basketball and are investigating thrilling new methods to bring athletes and educational institutions to life. The class is now in session.”
A rivalry appears to be shaping up! This is logical given EA hasn’t produced a basketball game since 2018, and 2K will be quite eager to make sure no one overshadows them – the ball has been in their court for a very long duration now.
We hope to discover more in the upcoming months, but remember that EA’s College Football game took three years from announcement to launch – it seems that both EA and 2K are setting their sights on the future with these teasers.
