Iizuka once more dismisses the notion

If you’re still clinging to the notion of a Sonic Adventure remaster in this year 2025, it might be wise to let go of such aspirations, as it appears that Sonic Team leader Takashi Iizuka is simply not keen on the concept.

While conversing with Shack News (thanks to Push Square), Iizuka mentioned that he recognizes the demands from fans, but ultimately feels that the effort needed to upgrade Sonic Adventure to current expectations would be better utilized in developing a brand-new game:

I do hear [the requests for a Sonic Adventure remaster] frequently. I truly appreciate everyone who enjoys the Sonic Adventure series, but when I consider what it would take to elevate that game to meet the standards and anticipations of today’s gaming audience, I believe the time and resources would be roughly equivalent to making a new title.

“A part of me contemplates that perhaps I should just create an entirely new title, which is why there are no current plans.”

It’s crucial to highlight that Iizuka has previously shown interest in revisiting the ‘Sonic Adventure’ sub-series, but it seems far more plausible that we might witness a theoretical Sonic Adventure 3 rather than a remaster or remake of the earlier two installments.

And you know what? We’re completely fine with that. As much as we cherish the Adventure games, they undeniably signify Sonic Team’s initial significant exploration into the world of 3D Sonic, and uhh… yeah, it’s quite evident. We would likely prefer Sonic Team to utilize its experiences from Sonic X Shadow Generations to develop a new, even more remarkable experience for aficionados.

However, we wouldn’t reject a Switch port. Just a port, you know? Surely that’s doable, right?
