Finished with your Switch 2 launch titles? Curious about what’s coming next? Well, Arc System Works has just revealed a Switch 2 exclusive title crafted by some of the creators behind two notable DS cult favorites, set to release this summer.
Dear Me, I Was… is the brainchild of art director Taisuke Kanasaki, who previously contributed to Hotel Dusk and the original Another Code series on the DS, each possessing striking styles that resembled animated works of art. This time, the game showcases a painterly, watercolor aesthetic, allowing you to observe the paint splatters on the display.

During Arc System Work’s showcase, the game director Maho Taguchi characterized it as a “textless adventure title,” making it a thrilling option for visual novels that typically contain a lot of text. In fact, it reminds me of the exceptional Florence, which narrated a complete story through heartfelt WarioWare-style mini-games with no spoken words.
“It is aimed at adult women, designed to evoke a more positive feeling after gameplay,” Taguchi shared.
Kanasaki further elaborated that the team employed rotoscoped animations, meaning they initially filmed nearly everything in live action before tracing and painting over the clips. “Since everything was created by hand, it posed significant challenges.” Dear Me appears to be experimenting with numerous intriguing concepts that are rarely seen in the subgenre.
We lack extensive knowledge about the actual story of Dear Me, but one of the most beautifully crafted websites I’ve encountered describes it as chronicling a woman’s entire life. “Experience her journey, her life intertwined with others.” A precise release date hasn’t been announced yet, apart from a vague indication for this summer.
