One of the most captivating advancements concerning Nintendo Switch 2 is that the Joy-Con 2 controllers now offer mouse-like features for several games. This has been a highly sought-after functionality, and gamers who prefer using mice seem to have that choice on Switch 2 as well.

During a showcase for Nobunaga’s Ambition: Awakening CE on Switch 2 (via Insider Gaming), producer Michi Ryu connected a wired mouse to the console and started using it. He also emphasized that when the mouse is connected, it takes precedence over the Joy-Con 2 controllers. Ryu utilized the mouse around the 10:53 timestamp in the video below.

This doesn’t automatically imply that every Switch 2 game will support a conventional mouse. It remains uncertain whether wireless mice are also compatible with Switch 2. XCOM creator Julian Gollop recently indicated that the mouse functionalities on Switch 2 might foster more strategy games on the platform.

Nintendo’s forthcoming 3v3 sports title, Drag x Drive, will thoroughly utilize the Joy-Con 2’s mouse features. Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will also feature the option to toggle between Joy-Con 2’s controller and mouse-like functionalities seamlessly. This may simplify aiming significantly in the forthcoming sequel. Nintendo has also recently provided more insights into how the Joy-Con 2’s mouse functionalities will operate.
