Earlier this month, we encountered some leaked visuals and information about the 2025 Xbox handheld console – which appears to be in progress right now at ASUS. Although the gadget hasn’t been officially unveiled yet, this early leak did provide us our initial insight into what the console could achieve, and we’re eager to know if you all are keen on purchasing one of these in 2025.
Based on the leak, which originated from the FCC, this device is equipped with a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor featuring 8 cores and a TDP of 36W, alongside 64GB of LPDDR5-8533 memory. This makes it a slightly more potent system than ASUS’s standard ‘ROG Ally 2’, suggesting that there’s a niche for this in the handheld market currently.
Unfortunately, one aspect that this month’s leak didn’t address was the actual pricing of the system – we still lack information on what the 2025 Xbox handheld will be priced at. That figure is likely to influence how many individuals will be intrigued by this device, but we hope Microsoft can collaborate with ASUS to keep expenses manageable, aiming for a more console-like price range here.
At PX HQ, there exists a mix of enthusiasm for this specific device. We are certainly looking forward to witnessing some kind of new Xbox hardware this year, but it’s undeniable that a properly manufactured Xbox handheld — as is currently anticipated for 2027 — would generate a bit more excitement around here. Regardless, we are very much intrigued by what Microsoft and ASUS are concocting for this year!
