There’s a fantastic new “Watchtower” Creation as well!

Bethesda has launched the May 2025 update for Starfield on Xbox and PC today, primarily centering on bug corrections for both the main title and the Shattered Space DLC, although there are also a few exciting new additions.

For instance, you can now select “Very Low” graphical options when utilizing a less capable PC, and custom content has received an enhancement with the option to submit Creations having a size of up to 2GB and the capability to bundle them in the Creations Store.

Regarding Creations, Bethesda is showcasing a recent one named “Watchtower” that features “a fresh storyline, new ship upgrades and functionalities (like the capacity to request orbital strikes), equipment, and more,” and you can view the trailer for it at the top of this article.

FEATURES

GAMEPLAY

  • Skills: The Cargo Link and Robots build limits from the Outpost Management skills should now persist after interfacing with the Unity.
  • Weapons: The Space-Adept legendary effect no longer imposes a negative modifier for ground damage.
  • Gameplay Options: Fixed an issue with certain interiors that obstructed cargo access.
  • Gameplay Options: Clarified the status effects text for Malnourished and Hydrated.
  • Rectified a Grav jumping issue that could occur after being hailed in Freestar or UC space.

  • Updated resolutions to feature 32:9 and 32:10 alongside additional 16:9, 16:10, and 21:9 resolutions.
  • Performance: Resolved an issue that could lead to frame rate drops when opening the scanner over extended play sessions.
  • Celestial objects should now remain visible in the sky after entering and exiting an interior.

QUESTS

  • All That Money Can Buy: Fixed a rare issue that rendered the Trade Tower elevator inoperable.
  • In Memoriam: Addressed an issue where completing “At Hell’s Gate” with Sarah as the companion could obstruct quest completion.
  • Perfect Recipe: Shonda will now recover if she was incapacitated while collecting Ashta meat.
  • The Starjacker: Adjusted dialogue choices that appear for characters playing after entering the Unity.
  • Top of the L.I.S.T. – Resolved a control lock that could occur after selling survey data to Phil Hill.
  • Trackers Alliance: Resolved an issue causing bounty scanner quests to time out.
  • Trackers Alliance: Rectified a rare issue where either killing or stunning the target would not fulfill the bounty missions.
  • Worlds Apart: Corrected an issue that allowed the player to leave the planet too swiftly after exiting the temple.

LOCATIONS

  • Mannequins will now remain as intended in the New Atlantis Penthouse.
  • Players should now be able to customize the shelves and cabinets in the Core Manor in Akila City.
  • Resolved an issue that could obstruct scanning certain flora.
  • At Hell’s Gate: The Plasma Research Facility is now visible on the surface map.
  • Fixed a visible gap in the Deserted Biotics Lab.
  • Vent Hazards are now displayed correctly on Jemison.

UI

  • Ship Builder: Fixed an issue with the ship upgrade menu when only one module is present for enhancement.
  • Ship Builder: Addressed a selection issue when utilizing large fonts.
  • Ship Decoration: Updated the labels of Empty ship modules.
  • All buttons should now function in the Vehicle Builder menu with large fonts enabled.
  • Localization: Text for the Dehydrated debuff is no longer truncated in Spanish and Polish when large fonts are enabled.
  • Localization: The bounty boards in the Tracker’s Alliance HQ are now consistently localized.
  • Localization: Strings for both Hydrated and Dehydrated status effects regarding sneak attacks are fully localized.

VEHICLE

  • A keyboard binding is now accessible for the boost button. (PC)
  • A marker for the vehicle will now appear on the player’s compass.
  • Resolved a camera issue that could affect players with maxed out Surveying skills.
  • Improved logic for exiting the vehicle when partially obstructed.
  • The vehicle will now deploy when landing at sites other than spaceports or landing pads.
  • Addressed a visible glitch with the Rev-8 when boosting in foggy conditions.

Shattered Space

  • Va’ruun outpost modules are now accessible to players following entry into the Unity.
  • Skills: Defeating enemies inside gravity bubbles on Dazra will now contribute towards the Gymnastics skill.
  • Rectified an issue with the buttons on the lift at the Mourning level in Dazra.
  • Weapons: The Penumbra now inflicts bonus headshot damage.
  • Performance: Fixed an issue that could cause brief stutters in the Well and outside Dazra.
  • The Va’Ruun Schimaz’s blade is no longer pixelated on the Data Menu.
  • Resolved a lens flare flicker with the Citadel on Dazra.
  • Zealous Overreach: Adjusted Mirek’s dialogue choices to consider characters that have passed through the Unity.
  • Zealous Overreach: Fixed an issue that could arise if the player cleared Shadow Station Epsilon before conversing with Ekris.
