In 2022, Sony introduced its PlayStation Stars rewards initiative, providing devoted players an opportunity to acquire digital collectibles. Now, fewer than three years later, Sony has revealed its intention to discontinue the PlayStation Stars program soon.

Sony commended PlayStation Stars for cultivating “a stronger bond with fans worldwide.” Nonetheless, the gaming enterprise stated that following an assessment of PlayStation Stars, a decision was made to terminate it. As of now, PlayStation Stars is not welcoming new members. Current members choosing to end their membership will also be unable to rejoin.

The conclusion of the program will not occur abruptly. Members can still elevate their PlayStation Stars status and accumulate more digital collectibles until July 23 at 7:59 AM PT / 10:59 AM ET / 3:59 PM BST. After that moment, no further rewards or initiatives will be accessible. Players can continue to claim their PlayStation Stars rewards until November 2, 2026. Sony also reassured players that they will still have access to their digital collectibles, “even after these alterations transpire.”

Throughout the announcement, Sony references “this iteration” of PlayStation Stars while mentioning that it will “analyze our significant insights from this program” and “investigate new methods to enhance our loyalty program initiatives for the future.” Sony also expressed gratitude to all players who engaged with PlayStation Stars.

In additional news concerning Sony, the free PlayStation Plus titles for May will stay accessible until June 2. This month’s offerings comprise Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun and the beloved Balatro.
