Have you found it worthwhile for the price you paid?
We are approaching five years since the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S made their debut, and while they have clearly faced challenges compared to the PS5 and Nintendo Switch, they have still established themselves as popular gaming consoles.
Some argue that due to Microsoft’s recent “this is an Xbox” initiative, the worth of owning a Series X or S has, in a way, diminished—because Xbox first-party games can now be accessed from more platforms than ever before.
While this may resonate with certain players, the advantages of owning an Xbox Series console—such as backwards compatibility, FPS Boost, Quick Resume, Smart Delivery, and Xbox Game Pass—should not be overlooked. Let’s not forget the considerable list of Xbox exclusives that haven’t yet appeared on other platforms!
Pricing is undoubtedly a significant factor here. Over the past five years, Microsoft has emphasized the remarkable value of the Xbox Series S, and although recent price hikes have affected it, it remains the most budget-friendly current-generation console on the market (excluding the original Nintendo Switch). Meanwhile, the Xbox Series X has aligned more closely with the PS5 in terms of pricing, which is logical given their comparable designs.
Considering all these points—the “this is an Xbox” campaign and the price adjustments of the Xbox Series X and S over time—do you feel you’ve received good value for your investment? Whether you acquired yours in 2020 or more recently, we’re eager to hear your thoughts on whether it has been worth the money.
