What will happen when Switch 2 launches and the Nintendo Today! app can no longer feed us random snippets of news? Today’s info drop may be minor, but we are excited to see what the musically gifted community can create with it.

The app has unveiled some “charming little details” in the Switch 2’s ‘Change Grip/Order’ menu — yep, that panel where you link your Joy-Con. On the upcoming console, each attached controller will emit a sound when you press the rear buttons, and if you arrange them sequentially and press them in order, you’ve got a musical scale at your fingertips.

It might not encapsulate the lively music of classic Nintendo, but it’s another hint that personality is returning to the Switch 2. Honestly, we’d bet it won’t be long before fans are playing Zelda’s Lullaby, the Overworld theme, and maybe even a bit of Rick Astley through the controller menu.

You can experience the new feature in action via the Nintendo Today! app, or view Nintendo’s demonstration in the following BlueSky post from @Stealth40k:

Just yesterday, Nintendo used its news app to showcase how effortless it is to assign functions to the Pro Controller 2’s new GL and GR buttons. If we can generate musical notes from those as well, it won’t be long before someone plays Megalovania on the Joy-Con… what an era we live in.
