No Cap

We’re running out of words to describe how well Capcom has been doing over the last decade or so.
The Japanese publisher has just announced its financial results for fiscal year 2024, and yet again, it’s managed to rack up record-breaking figures. Across net sales and profit “at all levels”, this is the company’s eighth consecutive year of out-and-out growth.
Naturally, Monster Hunter Wilds has played a major role in keeping Capcom’s momentum rolling. The action RPG released back in February, and went on to sell over 10 million copies in its first month.
But it’s not just the publisher’s more recent blockbusters pulling their weight. As you may have noticed, older Capcom games are often discounted in PS Store promotions and the like, and this approach has resulted in a constant influx of sales.
Titles like Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter Rise, and various Resident Evil games have shifted 1 million copies each across the fiscal year, providing an impressive bottom line for the company to build on with new releases.
Despite all of this success, though, it’s worth noting that Capcom expects a drop in new game sales over this fiscal year. The outlook may suggest that the company doesn’t plan on launching any truly heavy hitters between now and April 2026.
With the next mainline Resident Evil no doubt in development, Onimusha: Way of the Sword set for 2026, and Monster Hunter Wilds’ inevitable expansion planned, we can see Capcom thriving for a while yet.
But did you ever think Capcom could rise to such heights? Think about the envy of other publishers in the comments section below.

Robert (or Rob if you’re lazy) is an assistant editor of Push Square, and has been a fan of PlayStation since the 90s, when Tekken 2 introduced him to the incredible world of video games. He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
